In a significant step toward promoting equitable access to medical education, government colleges across Punjab will begin offering free preparation classes for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) starting June 2.
The initiative, backed by the Government of Punjab, aims to support aspiring medical and dental students by providing high-quality coaching at no cost. Students interested in participating must register in advance, as the preparatory sessions will commence in the first week of June.
This year, the program is being expanded substantially: approximately 150 government colleges are expected to host MDCAT preparation sessions, up from 90 colleges last year. In 2024, the program benefited around 10,000 students—a number that is expected to grow significantly with this expansion.
Each participating college will receive Rs. 500,000 in funding to facilitate the coaching program. The funds will be used to acquire learning resources and to hire five trained instructors per college, who will guide students through the MDCAT syllabus and essential test-taking strategies.
This government-backed initiative reflects a deepening commitment to making professional education accessible to talented students, regardless of their socioeconomic background.
