In a significant step toward empowering underprivileged communities, the Federal Government is launching a Maritime Education Endowment Fund to support deserving students from Pakistan’s coastal regions, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced on Sunday.
According to 24News, the fund will provide scholarships to students from disadvantaged coastal areas, enabling them to access quality education and pursue better opportunities in maritime and related fields.
“The goal is to provide access to standard education for students living in coastal areas,” said Minister Chaudhry.
Initially, the initiative will focus on Pakistan’s coastal belt, including regions along the Arabian Sea, but there are plans to expand the program nationwide over time.
To ensure transparency and merit-based selection, a special committee will be established to oversee the application process and scholarship distribution. The minister emphasized that the entire process would be free from discrimination and managed with integrity.
This endowment fund reflects the federal government’s broader commitment to inclusive development and educational equity, especially for communities that have historically been underserved.
